The sun shone brightly as Frome Town AFC launched its new youth section with a tournament at the Aldersmith Stadum.
Teams from Wells City, Trowbridge, Chew Valley, Warminster, Holcombe, Westfield, and Worton & Chevrell were amongst others who joined with Frome Town for a day of fun and football.
It was great to see lots of local young footballers take to the field at the Aldersmith and well done to all involved for the fantastic support on the day.
Frome Town legend Mark Salter was in attendance to present trophies, and also the senior committee who continue to give the youth section fantastic support. We must also thank all the managers and helpers who make this sort of event possible, and let's not forget the groundsman Rodney for preparing the pitches and Ivan for all his work collecting scores and announcing throughout the day.
Lots of pictures were taken by club photographer Chas, and we will link to these as soon as they are ready... watch this space.
We are already looking to a future tournament and will use this successful model as a base, but iwe intend to make it bigger and better with more teams across more age groups.
So well done to all, young and not so young, for a fantastic day of football played in exactly the right spirit. |

Youth coaches Jon Curle and Paul Whitley completed a sponsored cycle ride over the bank holiday weekend.
The pedal pushing pair covered over 200 miles between the Aldersmith stadium, the South coast, a circuit of the Isle of Wight and home again. Funds raised will go to buy new a range of training kit - bibs, cones, poles etc... - for the new Youth section of Frome Town AFC. |
